On June 29th 2006, a Community Visioning Day was held at École secondaire
catholique Algonquin. The Kids & Community Visioning Day provided
the opportunity for members of child serving agencies, as well as
concerned parents in our community to join together in order to discuss
barriers that parents face on their quest to full participation in
community life. The day was facilitated by Graphic Facilitator, David
Hasbury and the Executive Director of the Community Development Council
of Quinte, Roni Summers Wickens.
Stemming from our Visioning Day, a list of barriers and ideas for
action were established. A dedicated group of volunteer parents, called
the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) emerged in order to develop community
awareness initiatives, and to work on implementing the action plans
developed from our Visioning Day. The PAC has been meeting regularly
since July 2006.
