Who Are We?

We are a group of volunteer parents, who meet twice a month in order to create and implement action plans that will improve the quality of life for all families in our community. Not only does our PAC function as a peer support network for each other, but we speak with many parents throughout the community and bring their issues to the table as well.

What Has the PAC Accomplished?
  • Radio guest on "Social Insight with Lynne Bennett."  Barriers discussed included: transportation, waiting lists and housing
  • - The Letter of the Day: "Community Could Help Ease the Suffering of Poverty." and "Community Transportation Program Needed" printed in the North Bay Nugget
  • Proposal to establish a Rideshare program in our community was created and presented to the District of Social Services Administration Board (DNSSAB)
  • Presentation given in Belleville, ON in order to promote the creation of a PAC in that community
  • Monthly newsletters created and distributed to child and family serving agencies
  • Creation and distribution of a Community Survey in order to assess widespread interest in the action plans proposed by the PAC
  • Holiday fundraiser to support the creation and implementation of outreach activities of the PAC in the community
What Do We Plan To Do?
  • Photo project in order to explore and present housing issues
  • Create a petition to draw awareness and support to the issue of safe and affordable housing
  • Raise awareness by giving presentations throughout the community
  • Create an educational video exploring issues related to social exclusion/inclusion
  • Continue our plans to minimize transportation barriers for families
  • Presentations to be given throughout the province in order to raise awareness and to promote the establishment of Parent Advisory Committees in other communities
